It's Time to Comment, Lurkers

Last year there was De-Lurking Day, this week there's De-Lurking WEEK. Yes, that's right, those of you who read but never comment, lurking in the shadows, keeping to yourselves: It's time to comment, and this time you've got a whole week to do it. If you're reading and you've never commented before (or you have and it's been half of forever since then), give me a shout down there in the comments. If you're too shy to leave your real name, make one up; no one will be the wiser. (Feel free to be creative, name-maker-uppers. If you can't tell me who you really are, you may as well entertain me.) I'll reply to all comments, and if you've got a blog, leave your info so people can find you. Okay? Okay. Comment away, fair readers.

This is a terrific blog you have here! I'm definitely going to bookmark it!

Come check out mine sometime. It's all about mortgage refinancing and herbal male enhancement.

Hi Mary. Long-time reader, first-time delurker.

I'm lurking from flickr. Well, you linked it, I expect you'd be disappointed if there wasn't some creepy flickr lurker. I like the feeling of being creepy. It bugs me that no one who knows me thinks I'm the least bit creepy, so I milk it with people who don't. But I probably just de-creeped myself, as well as de-lurked myself, by pointing too much attention to imagined creepiness.

Hi Mary. I'm a friend of Todd's, and I do occasionally comment. But I'm a faithful reader because you're just so DANG FUNNY.

Larry B., you've commented before, so I don't consider you an official lurker--but it's nice to have your comment just the same, and I'm glad you popped in. Hi, Larry!

Shepcat, I LOVE reading all I can get my hands on about mortgage refinancing, and I think my Latin lover Don Pedro will enjoy knowing more about herbal male enhancement. I'll bookmark your blog, too! Thanks for coming by!

Jarod, I had my suspicions about you, and now I know. I'll see you next time I'm in, which will probably be, well, tomorrow. And then the next day. And the truth is that I'd probably come practice my typing on the SpongeBob game more often except that I feel a little weird coming in to play children's games without Jack and MLiz. Especially since I rarely purchase anything. I'm just a freeloader.

Lucy, have I ever told you that I love the name Lucy? I don't think I have because I had no idea you were here until today. But Lucy? I love the name Lucy. Can we trade?

Shanda, it's good to know you're out there. I love long-time readers who are first-time delurkers. I love you all to bits! Really!

Keauxgeigh, I'm glad you found your way here; I was wondering if I'd have any lurkers that made it here through flickr. I didn't think you were creepy until you said you like being thought of as creepy, and then I got all creeped out. Now you're creepy. Another dream come true. (Here at marymuses, we make all your dreams come true.)

Amy, I love it that you delurked AND gave me a compliment. But of course I remember your comments (they're always fabulous!), and I long ago followed your trail of bread crumbs back to Todd. Thanks for reading and for feeding my ego. Bonus!

OK, Mary. Yeah, I lurk on your site. Who hasn't? I guess i keep coming back here because of your funny fun funniness. And your grammar is impeccable!

Sincerely,

Strong Bad

Strong Bad, I knew you'd been coming by; I could just tell. Tell me, do you come for inspiration or just for laughs? Perhaps for lessons in humility? Whatever your reasons, I'm glad you dropped by and that you're finally delurking.

Thanks for the blogs, Mary, you're an excellent writer and a gracious host to your admiring public. I've never felt like a lurker, more like a reader of an entertaining columnist.

Kylie! My Down Under reader! Welcome, and thanks for delurking!

James, who are you attempting to convince that you aren't lurking, us or you? Either way, you really aren't a lurker. Thanks for commenting and for reading all this time!

I'm trying to get my head around the idea that I have an admiring public...Thanks, FamilyGuy! I'm glad you've dropped in.
